As I was strolling along the backroads in the Belgian province Hainaut, my eye fell upon this 'fermette', which roots go back even before 1000 AD. In fact, the buildings belonged once to the long gone castle in the neighbourhood and were servant-quarters.  Back in 1600 they added some more buildings and now there is a beautifull conglomerate of old bricks and mortar.
En route en Hainaut, j'ai vu cette fermette au loin. Son histoire remonte à 1600 et même plus tôt encore.
Op toertocht in de provincie Henegouwen, viel mijn oog op deze kleine nederzetting, met een historie die teruggaat tot voor 1000. De gebouwen behoorden toe aan een kasteel in de buurt en waren als bediendenvertrekken in gebruik omstreeks de jaren 1600.

But it was not because of the architectural point of view that my attention was caught . As I passed by, I saw a glimpse of some covered cars. Curious as I am, I stopped and entered this walhalla of old iron.
Mais ce n'était pas les briques et le ciment qui attirait mon attention. En passant, je voyais quelques voitures sous baches. Etant curieux, j'entrais dans le bâtiment et découvrais un trésor en ancètres.
Maar het waren niet de antieke stenen die mijn aandacht trokken. In't voorbijrijden zag ik verschillende wagens onder zeil staan. Eens binnen ontdekte ik een ware oud-ijzer-schatkamer.

I met the owner, he showed me around and told his sad story. He encountered his limits when struggling with a cilinderhead of a Jaguar S.S. Not able to continue the restoration on several projects himself, he took the wise decision to sell off most of his stock.
En parlant avec le propriétaire j'ai appris la triste histoire. Le moteur de la Jaguar S.S. était plus lourd que prévu et il s'est gravement blessé au dos. La décision est prise maintenant de laisser partir la plupart des projets.
De eigenaar vertelde me z'n verhaal. Bij het ontmantelen van de motor van een Jaguar S.S., raakte hij in z'n rug geblesseerd. Noodgedwongen ziet hij zich nu verplicht om de meeste wagens van de hand te doen.
